Vocab Breakdown
全速力（ぜんそくりょく）：full speed
盗塁（とうるい）： stealing bases (a baseball term)
試みる（こころみる）：to attempt something, to try
余裕（よゆう）： in a general sense, it means “an excess” or “abundance” of something but in this case it emphasizes that it he wasn’t even close to being safe
アウトになる：to be out (as far as I know, it’s used exactly in the same way as in English: sports, something you thought could be a romantic partner, maybe an idea)
